David Polfeldt, a veteran from Ubisoft, has launched a new game development studio in Barcelona
A new game development company has been established in Barcelona under the leadership of industry veteran David Polfeldt.
The organization, known as Bespoke Pixel, is in the midst of building its foundational team and has secured $25 million in funding, according to GamesBeat.
Polfeldt’s background includes a 17-year tenure at Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment, where he held several key positions, the most notable being managing director from 2008 until 2021.
During his time at Massive, he contributed to various high-profile franchises such as The Division, Avatar, Far Cry 3, and Assassin's Creed Revelations.
After departing Massive in 2022, Polfeldt provided strategic advice to PlayerUnknown and Disney before co-founding Bespoke Pixel.
"Launching Bespoke Pixel in Barcelona highlights our belief in the city’s game industry and its supportive infrastructure," Polfeldt stated. "We aim to bring a fresh perspective to Barcelona’s vibrant cultural scene."
He continued, "Our objective is to develop unique intellectual property centered on polished and meticulously designed gameplay. We're building a compact and dynamic team primarily focused on creating prototypes. The wealth of experience within our team will be pivotal in producing premium gaming experiences."
