Concord's store listings indicate that Sony is continuing to price its live service games, such as Helldivers, at a more accessible level

Sony is applying the same pricing model to its new live-service title, Concord, as it did with Helldivers 2, by offering it at a more affordable rate.

Push Square noted that pre-orders for the standard edition of Concord on the Australian PlayStation Store are set at AU$59.95, matching the price set for Arrowhead Games' Helldivers 2.

Additionally, GamesIndustry.biz verified the prices listed on both the US and UK PlayStation stores, with the game available for $39.99 and £34.99 respectively, mirroring the cost of Helldivers 2. This is a departure from the typical $70 price tag seen with many AAA titles in this console generation.

Helldivers 2, which launched earlier this year at the same price, managed to sell 12 million copies in just 12 weeks, making it the fastest-selling PlayStation game to date. In a recent discussion with Arrowhead's executives, they shared insights on how this success has propelled the studio's ambitions.

Concord, part of Sony's strategy to expand into live service games, was recently introduced during the State of Play showcase. The decision to offer the game at a lower price aims to attract a larger player base, which is crucial for live service titles.

There were earlier discussions about the possibility of Concord being a free-to-play game, but the store listing seems to have clarified that it will not be.

Initially, the current console generation saw consumer pushback when AAA game prices rose to $70. While rising development costs cast doubt on whether another price hike would be accepted, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors suggested in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz that some titles might even justify a higher price.
