League of Geeks enters a state of dormancy

The creators of Armello, League of Geeks, revealed they will be taking an indefinite break.

In a blog entry by founders Ty Carey, Trent Kusters, and Blake Mizzi, it was disclosed that the team would take an "extended time off." They mentioned the uncertainty about when or if they will bring back their operations, attributing it to the challenging economic climate in the gaming sector.

The February release, Solium Infernum, which received positive reviews, will still receive bug fixes and minor updates. However, the founders stated, "its sales revenue cannot fund further active development or DLC."

Jumplight Odyssey, which was suspended indefinitely in December following its Early Access period, will no longer resume active development but will see a complete release within the next year.

"As of now, Jumplight Odyssey has not secured the necessary and timely investment to restart its development," the post stated. "While we wish to finish this project, it will remain on hiatus."

"We plan to exit Early Access within the next 12 months. Although it won't be the fully realized v1.0 version we aimed for, we hope to wrap up development using our limited resources."

Armello will remain accessible online, with the development of its board game version progressing as King of the Castle Games continues its work.

Regarding their team, the co-founders said, "Most of our team has moved on to new ventures, and those remaining will take a deserved break for the coming months."

They also noted: "Making video games is tough, especially over the past few years, but the talented and wonderful people we worked with, both within LoG and externally, made it all worthwhile."

In December, we spoke with Kusters when League of Geeks cut half of its staff after losing an investment. We had also interviewed the co-founder a few months earlier, discussing the significant challenges large indie studios face due to funding issues.
