Mike Verdu, who currently heads the gaming division at Netflix, is being assigned to a different position

Netflix's Vice President of Games, Mike Verdu, is transitioning to a different role as the company expands its reach in the gaming industry.

Before joining Netflix in 2021 to spearhead its mobile gaming expansion, Verdu held key positions at both Facebook and Electronic Arts.

Though specifics about his new duties are yet to be disclosed, GamesIndustry.biz reports that they are related to 'innovation in game development.'

Verdu will oversee Netflix's gaming operations until a successor is named.

"The achievements we've made are remarkable, and I look forward to pioneering new innovations in gaming here at Netflix," Verdu remarked. "Emerging technologies have always driven creativity in game development, and this new endeavor aligns perfectly with my passion as an entrepreneur."

Since Verdu's arrival, Netflix has released 100 games for its users, including original titles inspired by hit series like Too Hot to Handle, Virgin River, and Money Heist.

The company has also bolstered its gaming capabilities by acquiring several studios: Night School, Boss Fight, Next Games, and Spry Fox. Additionally, Netflix has established new studios in California and Helsinki, all dedicated to developing content for its platform.
