Epic Games Store and the popular game Fortnite are set to launch on iOS devices in Japan next year
The Epic Games Store along with Fortnite will launch on iOS devices in Japan towards the end of 2025, as revealed by Epic Games.
This development follows Japan's approval of a law akin to the European Union's Digital Markets Act, which grants third-party app stores access to the App Store.
The legislation, initially put forward by a governmental panel in June of the previous year, is scheduled to take effect late next year, according to Apple Insider.
Under this law, giants like Apple and Google must permit the installation of third-party app stores on their platforms and support alternative payment systems.
"Fortnite is set to return to iOS in Japan and the UK next year, and in the EU within this year," shared Epic CEO Tim Sweeney on social media. "This marks a significant change for app developers and users alike."
Europe is poised to be the first region where the Epic Games Store and Fortnite will reappear on iOS devices, expected to roll out this year and managed by Epic Games Sweden.
