More than 100 people are working on a fan remake of Fallout 2
In 2018, a group of enthusiasts announced Project Arroyo — a fan-made remake of Fallout 2 on the Fallout 4 engine. In an interview with The Gamer, the project lead, Damion Daponte, shared that a very large team is currently working on the game. The team consists of more than a hundred developers.

According to Daponte, Project Arroyo is more than just a remake. It is a reimagining of Fallout 2. His team intends to make the game what Fallout 2 could have been if it were created today. For instance, Project Arroyo will feature an open world with new locations. Additionally, fans plan to voice all the characters in the game, not just some, as was the case in the original.
Project Arroyo is planned to be released on Steam. It is anticipated that the game will only be available to players who have Fallout 2, Fallout 4, and all their expansions in their library. However, Daponte notes that nothing has been finalized yet. Before the release on Valve's store, the developers need to contact Bethesda to ensure there are no legal issues.
There is no information on when exactly Project Arroyo will be released.
