Since the beginning of the year, almost as many people have been laid off in the gaming industry as in the entire year of 2023
In 2024, gaming companies are downsizing their workforce much more actively than a year ago. According to the Game Industry Layoffs portal, from January to May, the industry laid off 10,425 specialists. This is only 41 fewer than in all of 2023.

The majority of layoffs occurred in January, with companies dismissing 6,000 employees in just one month. The scale then decreased. Specifically, in May, gaming companies laid off or announced layoffs of a total of 773 people.
