Downloads of the Russian strategy game "Frontline" have exceeded 100,000

On April 25, the Russian studio Cats Who Play released the real-time strategy game "Frontline" in early access. Creative Director Vitaly Shutov shared the project's successes on his VKontakte account.

"Frontline"

  • By May 29, "Frontline" was downloaded over 102,000 times. This figure does not include downloads via direct links, which account for another 10,000 or so.
  • Currently, the download rate has decreased, with the game being downloaded 300-400 times a day.
  • More than half of "Frontline's" audience are active players, but about 4,000 users have yet to launch the game.
  • The milestone of 100,000 copies is fantastic for Cats Who Play. Shutov noted that the strategy game "Syrian Warfare" was purchased 50,000 times in Russia (global sales exceed 150,000 copies).
  • In Shutov's opinion, "Frontline" managed to attract such an audience because the game is free. If it cost even 100 rubles, the figures would be much smaller. Shutov also stated that true success for the game can only be claimed after a commercial international release.

Currently, "Frontline" is available through VK Play and the official Cats Who Play website, but it is expected to arrive on Steam later. The game was developed with the support of the Internet Development Institute. The grant amount is unknown.
