The number of cyberattacks through Android games has doubled in Russia
In the first quarter of 2024, Android users in Russia encountered malware disguised as games twice as often as they did during the same period last year. These data were revealed by Kaspersky Lab in an interview with the newspaper "Vedomosti".

The company did not specify exactly how many gaming cyberattacks it had detected but noted that it blocked "tens of thousands" of such threats.
Kaspersky Lab added that thanks to Apple's policies, the situation on iOS is much better. The company encountered scam applications in the App Store that posed as games, but there are significantly fewer of them than on Google Play and Android in general.
Experts interviewed by "Vedomosti" believe that the number of cyberattacks on Android has increased partly because some games are now unavailable to Russians in mobile stores. Users search for APK files online and fall for scams.
