Helldivers 2 became highest-grossing game on PC and PS5 in February, with US and UK as top markets by revenue
Market intelligence firm Newzoo has shared some data on Helldivers 2, one of the most successful releases of 2024 so far. Here is how Arrowhead’s co-op shooter performed across various metrics last month.
According to a new infographic from Newzoo, Helldivers 2 was the top-grossing game of February on PC and PlayStation 5 at least in the US and Europe*. Premium revenues accounted for the majority of the total, with the US and UK being the top two markets.
*Newzoo has added four European countries to its monitoring list, so it now provides a more detailed breakdown and tracks revenue performance in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy.
- Helldivers 2 was the number one game by revenue in Italy, while ranking 2nd in France, Germany, Spain, and the UK (behind only EA Sports FC 24).
- Arrowhead Game Studios’ shooter ranked 15th in monthly active users (MAU) across all games and 6th in its genre. The US and UK were the top markets by that metric.
- 4.8% of the global PC/PlayStation audience played Helldivers 2 in February (based on an aggregate of 37 key markets, excluding China and India). Players spent an average of 20.2 hours in the game, ranking it 75th across all genres and 7th in the shooter category.
- Its audience overlaps with games like Call of Duty, Lethal Company, and Fortnite. 35.3% of users who stopped playing Fortnite and 31% of those who stopped playing Palworld in February checked out Helldivers 2. The game also acquired its users from shooters like The Finals and Evil West.
Helldivers 2 has been a massive success for Arrowhead Game Studios and PlayStation, which served as the game’s publishers. On Steam alone, it peaked at over 450k concurrent players, making it the second-biggest launch of 2024 by that metric. It has also remained the top-grossing title on the platform for five weeks in a row.
When it comes to sales, Helldivers 2 crossed the 1 million mark in less than a week. Earlier this month, TD Cowen estimated its total sales at over 8 million units.
