The creators of the Yuzu emulator closed the project and agreed to pay $ 2.4 million to Nintendo
At the end of February, Nintendo's lawyers filed a lawsuit against Tropic Haze, which developed Yuzu, an emulator for games from the Nintendo Switch handheld console. A week later, it became known that the parties had concluded a settlement agreement.

Under the terms of the agreement, Tropic Haze must not only pay Nintendo $2.4 million in compensation, but also completely stop distributing and developing the emulator. By the time the news was written, the creators of Yuzu had closed the project's repository on GitHub, its website, Discord server and Patreon profile.
In addition, Tropic Haze is now prohibited from developing other emulators. Therefore, the company also stopped supporting Citra, an emulator for games with Nintendo 3DS.
Tropic Haze has published a farewell message for users of its emulators, in which it admitted that it violated Nintendo's rights and contributed to piracy.
"The Yuzu team has always been against piracy. We started the projects with the best intentions, out of love for Nintendo, its consoles and games, and did not intend to cause any harm. But now we see that the ability to bypass Nintendo's technological protection and play with our projects on unauthorized hardware has led to widespread piracy. We were also deeply disappointed that our programs were used to upload content on games that had not yet been released to the network. This has ruined the experience for buyers of licensed publications and fans," says the letter from Tropic Haze.
Now Nintendo and Tropic Haze have to wait for the court to approve the settlement agreement.
