A million for silence
Ubisoft has filed a lawsuit against the company BEP Music LLC, dealing with all the cases of the popular band Black Eyed Peas. The defendant is accused of violating the contract concerning the creation of the iOS version of the game Black Eyed Peas Experience.
According to the mentioned contract, Ubisoft received from BEP Music exclusive global rights to create and distribute games under the Black Eyed Peas brand. The contract also stated that BEP is obliged to approve the versions of products provided by Ubisoft within ten days, or return them for revision.
However, in the end, ten days stretched for six months.
The story is as follows: in March 2012, the French sent a ready-made version of the Black Eyed Peas Experience for iOS for approval. There was no response from the partners (they are still waiting for it). Six months later, the publisher’s patience ran out, and they went to court.
In the statement of claim, Ubisoft demands compensation in the amount of $ 1 million. It takes into account 181 thousand euros (about 233 thousand dollars) spent on the development of the game and potential income.
