Blizzard Entertainment has been left by its president Mike Ibarra and co-founder Allen Adham
Following the news of massive layoffs at Microsoft Gaming, Mike Ybarra, who held the position of president of Blizzard Entertainment since February 2022, and who had been acting as one of its top managers for more than a year before that, announced his resignation.
Mike Ibarra and Allen Adham
"Today is my last day at Blizzard. It was an incredible honor to manage Blizzard at such an incredible time, to be part of its team, to determine its future. But after more than 20 years at Microsoft and the completion of the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the moment has come (again) to become a fan of the company, watching its history from the sidelines," Ibarra said on his profile page on the social network X.
As noted by journalist Jason Schreier, despite the fact that the official statement of the head of Microsoft Studios, Matt Booty, says that Ibarra himself decided to leave the position, everything is not so clear. The fact is that just a couple of months ago, last November at BlizzCon, Ibarra told a journalist that he planned to work at the company for as long as possible: until he was kicked out of Blizzard.
Along with Ibarra, Allen Adham, one of the three co-founders of Blizzard Entertainment, left the company.
He had previously left the company. The first time Adham left the company was in 2004, immediately after the release of World of Warcraft. He was the lead designer of the game.
In 2016, Adham returned to head the New Product development and IP department. In particular, as Chief Design Officer, he was responsible for the game design teams of Overwatch 2, Diablo IV and WarCraft Rumble.
