Netmarble closes the developers of the Grand Cross metaverse platform: Metaworld
The South Korean company Netmarble has begun to liquidate Metaverse World, a studio specializing in the metaverse. It employed about 70 people.
In a comment to Yonhap News, a Netmarble representative explained that the studio had to be closed due to "market changes in the metaverse industry."
Metaverse World was founded in 2022. The Grand Cross: Metaworld platform, which did not manage to reach a full-fledged release, became her only project. It was supposed to be primarily a B2B platform on which companies and influencers would be able to create virtual worlds in anime style.
Netmarble itself is currently experiencing financial difficulties. As the Korea JoongAng Daily noted, the company has been reporting operating losses for seven consecutive quarters.
