The developers of The Day Before were fired one day. They say they weren't even given severance pay. UPDATED
Over the past three days, more than 50 new resumes of Fntastic employees have appeared on the HeadHunter website. Most of them have recently worked on the controversial shooter The Day Before.
The Day Before
The first to draw attention to this was the Shazoo news resource.
App2Top has verified this data. Indeed, over the past few days, 48 open resumes of specialists from various parts of Russia and the CIS who worked in the studio have appeared on the service (taking into account the closed ones, their number may be more than 50). All of them noted that they finished their work at the company this December. Most of the summary was updated on December 11-13.
Our colleagues from Shazoo have also contacted some developers. According to the latter, the layoffs occurred one day without compensation. Payment was made exclusively for the time worked. Employees were also required to write resignation letters "of their own accord."
update
Shazoo's interlocutors told the publication that they were eventually compensated: "The calculation was complete — for the days worked in December, the vacation pay and up to two salaries on top."
Also, if you believe the comments, the situation in the studio was dysfunctional before closing. Studio executives were accused of always "looking for the extreme" among ordinary employees, firing people for little things or disagreeing with their opinions. In addition, the studio had high turnover and problems both in terms of interaction with employees and security.
"We tried, a lot of ideas went into the table or into the trash, work and man-hours in the same place, many times we had to do everything over again because of the dismissal of employees. One artist deleted everything he had done in two months of work, he was fired before that and he took everything with him," one of the reduced specialists shared.
Recall that on December 11, it became known about the closure of the Fntastic studio amid the unsuccessful release of The Day Before. The audience of the game accused the developers of deception — instead of survival MMO, the studio released an evacuation shooter, which differs greatly in graphics and functionality from marketing materials. Public discontent resulted in an underestimation of the game's ratings on Steam and a wave of refunds.
As a result, the studio management stated that The Day Before turned out to be a "financial failure." It also noted that the team no longer has the funds to continue working.
