180 people were fired from Amazon's gaming division
Amazon Games Vice President Christoph Hartmann said in a letter to employees that massive layoffs had taken place in the Amazon gaming division. The thing is that the company has adjusted its approach to doing business.
The company closed its Twitch channel Crown and the Game Growth project, in which it helped developers promote games. Now Amazon Games will focus on developing the Prime Gaming service with free games.
"We listen to our customers' opinions and know what they want most — to get free games every month," Hartmann wrote. "Due to changes in the business approach, there have been changes in our staffing, as a result of which just over 180 employees have been laid off."
