Zynga wins patent dispute with IGT slot machine software developer
A court in Texas found that Zynga did not violate the patent rights of International Game Technology (IGT), a company that develops games and other slot machine software. IGT alleged that Zynga illegally used one of its technologies in the games Hit It Rich, Black Diamond Casino and Game of Thrones Slots Casino.
The subject of the dispute was the technology by which games continue to work when the Internet connection is interrupted.
A Zynga representative told Reuters in a comment that he was pleased with the court's decision, and called IGT's accusations "completely baseless." An IGT representative declined to comment.
The proceedings between the companies lasted two years.
