The litigation surrounding Myth of Empires was settled after almost two years
Snail Games publisher and Studio Wildcard have settled a conflict with the Chinese Angela Game, which created the Myth of Empires multiplayer sandbox. In December 2021, the companies accused her of stealing the source code of ARK: Survival Evolved.
All details of the settlement agreement have not been disclosed. It is only known that Snail Games will help with the spread of Myth of Empires on PC and other platforms. In turn, Angela Game will pay Snail Games royalties.
Recall that Snail Games and Studio Wildcard claimed that many of the game mechanics of Myth of Empires are almost identical to the mechanics of ARK: Survival Evolved. In addition, the names of hundreds of functions, variables and classes in the Myth of Empires files are very similar to the names from their game. According to the companies, this could not be just a coincidence. Also, the creators of ARK: Survival Evolved noted that one of the founders of Angela Game used to work at Snail Games, thanks to him the Myth of Empires team got access to the source code.
After complaints from Snail Games and Studio Wildcard about copyright infringement, Valve removed Myth of Empires from Steam.
