Indie roguelite miner Dome Keeper sees 2,500% surge in concurrent players after latest update

Roguelite survival/mining game Dome Keeper has managed to spawn a new wave of interest from users a year after its launch on Steam. Here is how the latest update impacted the title’s metrics.

Dome Keeper's concurrent player count increases by 2,500% thanks to new free update

On October 5, indie team Bippinbits released the free Double Dome update for Dome Keeper, which added plenty of new content and introduced major fixes and balance improvements. In addition, the game is now 60% off, which is a huge factor in attracting new players.

As spotted by GRY-OnLine, the update helped Bippinbits and publisher Raw Fury significantly improve Dome Keeper’s metrics. On October 8, it peaked at 5,274 concurrent users (CCU), according to SteamDB.

Right before the release of Double Dome, the game had roughly 200 concurrent players, so the new peak represents an increase of over 2,500%. This is also 1,649% more players than the October 4 peak of around 300 CCU.

Dome Keeper reached its all-time peak of 6,883 concurrent players on September 27, 2022. So this is the first time since launch when the game has shown similar numbers.

It currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 90% of the 7,345 user reviews being positive. Recent reviews, many of which were written after the latest update’s release are also very warm (91% of them are positive).

Dome Keeper has been a massive success for Bippinbits. The game launched with 189k wishlists and became profitable a few hours after its global release and grossed $1 million soon after. Here you can read more about Dome Keeper and the factors behind its success.
