Embracer Group spends more on store commissions than on game development
On September 21, the Embracer Group held its annual meeting. During the question and answer session, the head of the Swedish holding company Lars Wingefors called the amount that the company spends on commissions for Steam, PlayStation Store and other gaming stores “insane”.
According to Vingefors, now the development of games costs Embracer Group cheaper than the payment of commissions.
He also noted that the new program of exclusivity of games in the Epic Games Store (note, within the framework of it, Epic Games Store does not take a commission for the first six months) increases the competitiveness of the platform. According to the head of Embracer Group, competition between stores is good. It forces them to strain and improve the conditions for developers.
