CTIA: An overview of the American mobile application industry

The mobile app industry has created 519,000 jobs in the U.S. since 2007, according to CTIA, the international association of the wireless telecommunications industry.

The apps had the strongest impact on the states of Washington, California, Oregon and Georgia. These states alone attracted investments in this area worth $13.6 billion per year. Moreover, innovation in the application market was also no stranger to states far from Silicon Valley, such as Virginia and Maryland. Close ties with state and military institutions probably played a role here, which ordered the development of specialized applications to local companies.

CTIA also estimated that there are 2.4 million applications available on 11 operating systems in 24 stores. Referring to Recon Analytics and ABI Research, the company also mentions that by the end of 2011, the revenue of the entire, not only the American mobile application market amounted to $10 billion, but by 2016 it will reach $46 billion.
