ESA: a third of Americans over 65 consider themselves gamers
The US Video Game Manufacturers Association (Entertainment Software Association) has published an annual Essential Facts study dedicated to the American gaming audience. We share the figures from it.
▫️212.6 million Americans (65% of the entire US population) play video games at least an hour a week;
▫️62% of adult Americans play games;
if we talk about children, 76% of them are gamers;
▫️at least 34% of Americans over 65 are also gamers;
The average age of an American player is 32 years, and the average playing experience is 21 years;
▫️On average, players spend 12.8 hours a week on video games;
The most popular gaming platform is smartphones, 64% of players play on them, but it is the only gaming platform for only 12% of gamers from the USA.
The study was based on an online survey of approximately four thousand Americans conducted in April 2023.
