South Korean rating agency accused of embezzlement of tens of thousands of dollars
The South Korean government has conducted an audit of the activities of the Games Rating and Administration Committee. It came to the conclusion that the agency illegally spent $46 thousand on bitcoin mining.
According to Insight Korea, the government decided to check the work of the Committee after it received a petition from gamers. In it, Koreans complained about the unfair increase in the age rating of the Blue Archive mobile game to “18+” allegedly due to the presence of sexual content.
“The Game Rating and Administration Committee, which was supposed to adhere to conservative principles of game censorship, was actually rotting and decomposing. The truth discovered during the audit could not have surfaced if 5,489 gamers had not sent a petition,” said Lee Sang—heon, a member of the South Korean House of Representatives.
After the audit, the heads of three departments of the Committee resigned.
