China will actively fight the sale of "left-wing" gaming accounts to minors

It will become more difficult for Chinese children to circumvent the time limit for games. China’s Central Commission for Cyberspace Affairs has announced that it will closely monitor services for the sale and rental of gaming accounts.

According to GameLook, at the end of June, the Commission launched a campaign to create a healthy and safe environment for children on the Internet. One of its points was the fight against services that sell gaming accounts to young gamers. The campaign will last until the end of the summer holidays.

Game developers in China are tracking similar services themselves. For example, in March 2023, Tencent sued a website that allowed children to play its games from “left” accounts. She won the case and obtained compensation in the amount of ¥1.61 million ($222 thousand).

Recall that the Chinese authorities introduced a time limit for the games in September 2021. Since then, minors are allowed to play only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on public holidays from 20:00 to 21:00.
