Microsoft on the decision of the British regulator on the deal with Activision Blizzard: "This is our worst day in 40 years of work in the country"

On April 26, the British regulator imposed a ban on the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard. Microsoft President Brad Smith said on the BBC that he was disappointed with this decision and believes that it will have a bad impact on the UK itself.

According to Smith, the regulator’s decision made Microsoft doubt how much it needs to develop business in the country. Smith called on the UK government to carefully study the work of the antimonopoly authority if it “wants to attract investment, create jobs and make the United Kingdom a place where technologies are not only developed, but also created.”

Smith added that Microsoft considers Europe a more attractive region for IT. He is also pleased with the interaction with the European Commission and expects good news from it. The European Commission must make its decision on the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard by May 22.

Earlier, Microsoft announced that they would appeal against the decision of the British regulator.
