Apple will launch a mini tablet in 2012

The first unofficial data about the new Apple device has appeared. It will be a tablet with a reduced screen diagonal compared to the iPad.

According to DigiTimes, Apple will release two iPad models next year. The expected third version of the tablet in the first quarter and a smaller version of the device in the fourth. The diagonal of the mini version of the iPad will be 7.85 inches. That’s almost two inches smaller than the current generation of Apple tablets. The manufacturer of screens for the new tablets will most likely be LG Display and AU Optronics.

The release of a smaller version of the iPad is a response to the growing popularity of small tablets, including the Kindle Fire, about the success of which we wrote recently.

By the way, if DigiTimes sources from Apple’s supply department are not lying, then the release of a “small” tablet goes against the policy of the deceased Steve Jobs, who assured that 9.7 inches is the ideal size. In the event that the tablet is smaller, “users will need a file to finish their fingers to the desired size.”

Speaking of Jobs. Next month, a comic book about him called “The Zen of Steve Jobs” is published. It was written by Caleb Melby, a reporter for Forbes. The center of the story was Jobs’ relationship with his spiritual mentor, a Buddhist priest named Kobun Chino Otogawa.
