SayGames will no longer publish hyper-casual games. UPDATE: this is not the case

Mobile publisher SayGames is changing its business strategy. The company will stop working with hyper-casual games and focus on publishing hybrid-casual projects.

In the comments to the portal MobileGamer.biz Egor Voikhansky, CEO of SayGames, explained that 2023 will be a difficult year for companies “relying on the old formula for the success of hyper-casual games.” In his opinion, success now depends on the ability of studios to make deeper games and the desire of publishers to help developers develop in this direction.

“Today, compared to 2021, it has become more difficult to launch a successful hyper-casual game, since this requires advanced tools for product analytics, marketing knowledge and simply better games. Advertising monetization will not go away in the near future, but changing market conditions require developers and publishers to adapt and improve quickly,” Voikhansky said.

Voikhansky added that the recent transition to a hybrid monetization model allowed SayGames to engage in games of all genres and segments. Now his company is working on various projects, among which there is a merge puzzle and a hardcore card buttler.

UPDATE: The App2Top editorial office was contacted by SayGames representatives. They reported that the portal MobileGamer.biz incorrectly understood the words about the company’s departure from hyper-casual games.

“We continue to work on creating new hyper—casual games with our partners, but at the same time we are increasing the amount of resources allocated to the development of hybrid games due to the strategic focus on this genre,” explained Voikhansky.
