In 2022, the British spent £4.66 billion on video games
This became known from a report prepared by the UK Digital Entertainment and Retail Association (ERA). According to experts, video games have become the most monetary sphere of entertainment in the country over the past year, surpassing music in revenue.
British gamers spent the most on digital versions of games — £4.17 billion (+ 3.1% in annual terms). Physical editions of games accounted for another £488.6 million (- 4.5% in annual terms).
The best-selling game for consoles was FIFA 23, which sold 2.39 million copies in the UK. ERA did not name the main bestsellers for PC and mobile.
