Chile approves deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard

Chile’s antitrust regulator has concluded that the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will not harm competition in the gaming market.

In particular, the agency doubts that Microsoft will make the publisher’s games exclusive. But if Microsoft does remove titles from competing platforms, then this will not be a big problem for local gamers — Call of Duty and many other Activision Blizzard projects are not as popular in Latin America as in other regions.

Chile became the fourth country to approve the deal. Previously, the purchase of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft was supported in Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Serbia.
