The European Parliament called for strengthening consumer protection in video games
The European authorities have decided to take up the protection of consumer rights in video games. They called for the adoption of a set of rules on the territory of EU countries that will help make video games safer.
For example, the European Parliament proposes to make more accessible information about the content of games and the policy of in-game payments. The authorities also want to simplify the conditions for refands, solve the problem of “addictive” mechanics like loot boxes and deal with trading game items for real money.
At the same time, officials recalled that they recognize the great cultural and economic importance of the gaming industry. As part of their support, they proposed to create a European award for the best online games.
