Germany has increased the budget of the program for financing gaming companies

The German government has announced that it will allocate €70 million in grants to German developers next year. Previously, it had invested €20 million less for the development of game development in the country.

According to officials, the program’s budget was decided to increase due to the growth of the German gaming industry. Since the launch of the initiative, the number of gaming companies in Germany has grown by 26%, and the number of employees in them — by 12%.

The German authorities announced the pilot launch of the financing program in the summer of 2019, but it fully started working only in September 2020. According to its terms, local developers can apply for non-refundable grants that compensate up to 50% of the cost of creating games.
