Analyst: CD PROJEKT's large-scale plans do not mean that the company is preparing for sale
In early October, CD PROJEKT presented an updated development strategy and announced that it plans to release seven games in the coming years. This, combined with the departure of Marcin Iwiński from the post of CEO, caused rumors that the company wants to find a buyer. However, Rhys Elliott, an industry analyst at Newzoo, disagrees with this conclusion.
Elliott pointed out that medium-sized companies often draw up large-scale roadmaps, but usually do not announce them publicly. Most likely, CD PROJEKT wanted to take advantage of the good mood of the audience against the backdrop of the premiere of the anime based on Cyberpunk 2077 and restore its reputation.
The analyst added that investors appreciated CD PROJEKT’s action — over the past month, developer shares have risen by 28%.
