The Human Rights Council and the Ministry of Finance did not agree on which IT specialists should be given a reprieve, and which ones can be sent to the front

The head of the Human Rights Council proposed to give a deferral from conscription only to those IT specialists who work on “military and dual-use technologies and with critical information infrastructure.”

The Ministry of Finance criticized this proposal today. The head of the department stated that “Taking into account the restrictions imposed on the import of foreign IT solutions, it is necessary to ensure the appearance of Russian competitive analogues in all significant niches in an accelerated mode.”

According to the official, “It is difficult to imagine real security if we continue to depend on the technologies of unfriendly countries in certain areas.”

At the same time, he also made it clear that he does not advocate granting a postponement to the entire IT sector in the country. It just seems to him that the current restrictions are enough.

“Let me remind you that within the framework of the decision taken by the Ministry of Defense, only employees of accredited IT organizations with appropriate higher education are not called up as part of partial mobilization. At the same time, these employees should be directly involved in the development and support of IT solutions. This guarantees point and focus support.”
