Apple, Google, Samsung are the leaders of the US mobile market
According to comScore, over the past three months, up to and including July, Apple, Google and Samsung have shown the best results in the US mobile market. The company has published a report on users of mobile operators, according to which Apple turned out to be the leader in the total market of mobile phones and smartphones. Samsung won the first place in sales of simple mobile phones. Sales of Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android-based phones increased the most.
The fourth place among mobile phone manufacturers in the USA was won by Apple. This category includes all mobile devices, including smartphones, where Apple presents the iPhone. Apple increased its market share by 1.2%, i.e. its share was 9.5%. Samsung increased its market share from 24.5% to 25.5%, while LG’s share remained at the same level of 20.9%. Motorola and Research In Motion did not retain their positions.
Graph 1 shows the comparative top mobile manufacturers for the period from February to April 2011 and from April to July 2011.
Graph 1. Mobile phone users in the USA (smartphones and simple mobile phones) According to comScore, 82.2 million people already use smartphones in the United States, which is 10% more than in the previous three months.
It is not surprising that Google’s Android OS has become the market leader, its share has increased from 37.5% to 42.6%.
Apple’s iPhone also managed to increase its market share from 26.8% to 27.5%.
RIM’s Blackberry-based phones lost 1.4%, and their share was 22.1%. Microsoft and Symbian also did not retain their positions in the market.
Schedule 2. Top Mobile Platform Market in the USA In general, only Android and iPhone show positive dynamics in the smartphone market, and past leaders are losing ground.
At the same time, Apple is steadily gaining momentum in the market of mobile phone manufacturers.
Almost every fourth phone in the US is a Samsung brand, and almost every 11 is an iPhone. Taking into account the fact that Samsung offers dozens of models, and Apple – only 2 (iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4), it is not difficult to guess why Apple got the lion’s share of the mobile phone market.
