Cinemarama - a quiz for movie enthusiasts
Good afternoon.
I would like to introduce a new free quiz-style game called "Cinemarama".
This game was created as an experiment to test the capabilities of open cross-platform frameworks. Ultimately, the choice fell on Corona, which fully lived up to expectations (which is why it's chosen by EA and other industry leaders).
In our game, you'll need to guess movies based on screenshots.
It sounds quite simple, but when developing the game, we decided to take a different approach. We chose to complicate the task by processing the screenshots and giving them a unique style. On one hand, this made the game more challenging, but on the other, it allowed us to show very well-known scenes without making the game too easy. More than 300 screenshots were completely redrawn (thanks to our designer Denis :) ), giving them an original style.
Then we decided to tweak the gameplay a bit and move away from the standard logos quiz game formula. In Cinemarama, you guess the name of a movie or an actor by selecting letters, but mistakes decrease your progress. This also made the game easier, but we created it to relax and kill a few hours. However, with over 300 scenes, I think everyone will eventually encounter unfamiliar movies, and then they can read about them on IMDb after guessing.
