Media: The US Federal Trade Commission may approve a deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard as early as next month
According to a number of media reports, Microsoft has handed over to the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) several more documents related to the upcoming purchase of Activision Blizzard. Now the antimonopoly authority has 30 days to request additional information, or the transaction will be automatically approved.
It is important to note: even if the FTC does approve the deal in August, this does not mean that it will close immediately. In addition to the American regulator, the takeover is also being checked by antitrust officials from the EU and the UK.
In May, Microsoft President Brad Smith announced that a deal with Activision Blizzard was moving fast for a purchase of this size. However, he noted that despite the fast pace, both companies still have a lot to do.
