The deputy of the State Duma declared the urgent need to create a Russian game engine
Anton Gorelkin, a State Duma deputy and deputy chairman of the Information Policy Committee, noted in his Telegram that today “it is urgently necessary to create your own game engine.”
His comment is related to the fear that Russian game developers may at any time block access to the Unreal Engine and Unity Engine game engines, which are world standards.
“Russia has no competitive analogues yet – and it is obvious that in the current situation we urgently need to create our own game engine. This should be an open-source solution that Russian game developers can use for their projects for free,” Gorelkin writes.
He also noted that he considers the creation of such a technical solution to be “a priority task in terms of state support for the domestic gaming market.”
The deputy has already sent a proposal to the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation to discuss this initiative with the industry.
