The main thing for the weekend (June 25-26)

CD PROJEKT RED is not to blame for the Cyberpunk 2077 bugs. Diablo Immortal could be canceled for political reasons. Fall Guys has acquired an audience of 20 million people. About this and not only, — we tell you in a selection of news over the weekend.

▪️Cyberpunk 2077 came out raw due to a QA contractor. He misled the management of CD PROJEKT RED to get a contract (exaggerated the number of personnel and their level of training), and then failed to cope with the volume of tasks. Moreover, he introduced a “stick system“. As a result, employees were interested in “catching” numerous minor bugs, not critical ones. This is reported by the video blogger Upper Echelon Gamers with reference to a 72-page document that came to his disposal from an employee of the Romanian Quantic Labs, the same QA contractor.

The postponement (and possibly cancellation) of the Chinese release of Diablo Immortal is the result of criticism of Chinese President Xi Jinping in the official account of the game on the Weibo platform. The PR manager of the game, either consciously or by mistake, called on behalf of NetEase, which is publishing the project in the Middle Kingdom, for the resignation of the head of the country. Previously, it was only known that the game account was blocked for violating the rules of the service. After that, four days before the regional release, NetEase announced its postponement indefinitely for technical reasons.

The transition of Fall Guys to frituplay had a positive effect on the size of its audience. In the first 48 hours after the update, 20 million users entered the project. However, this did not save the game from criticism. Former users actively scold the game on social networks. Players are particularly unhappy with the zeroing of progress.

The Ukrainian outsourcing studio Stepico has announced the acquisition of Lviv Inkration, which previously specialized in game art and design. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

At the age of 75, Bernard Stolar, one of the first top managers of Sony Computer Entertainment America, died. He participated in the launch of the PlayStation and was engaged in the formation of a local product line for it: he signed such future hits as Crash Bandicoot, Ridge Racer, Oddworld Inmates and Spyro The Dragon. Then, as president of Sega of America, Bernie oversaw the launch of the Dreamcast in the States.
