SCMP: TiMi has opened a branch of F1 Studios to create AAA games that can be associated with metaverse
TiMi Studios, the “daughter” of Tencent, announced the launch of F1, a branch for the development of AAA games with an open world. There is a version that the opening of a new studio is one of Tencent’s steps towards the development of the global metaverse. TiMi refutes these rumors.
Last Wednesday, the South China Morning Post (hereinafter SCMP), citing anonymous sources, announced the opening of F1 Studios. According to the insights, Tencent sent out information about the studio and announced that employees from the USA, China, Canada and Singapore will work on the projects.
The information was confirmed by game analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter. He also added that F1 is already working on several projects and among them there are original IP.
“Studio (…) It uses the latest technologies to create projects that will become new gaming metaverses,” Ahmad reports.
TiMi refused to comment on the situation around F1 in detail. A representative of the studio said that the branch exists and really develops AAA games. However, he also noted that he was not going to discuss “buzzwords”, apparently referring to metavers.
However, as an anonymous Tencent employee told SCMP, the company does link its future plans and projects with metaverses.
This is supported by the September news that Tencent has received the rights to one hundred trademarks that contain the word “metavers”. It includes “QQ Metaverse”, “QQ Music Metaverse” and “Kings Metaverse” — the names for the messenger, music platform and the Honor of Kings game.
Previously, we at App2Top.ru They wrote that TiMi is opening an office in Montreal. Then the studio also said that it would develop an AAA game with an open world. Perhaps the Montreal office is part of F1.
