Bungie is expanding. Developers will open the first office outside the USA and launch a new IP
American Bungie decided to expand. The company plans to build a large new headquarters, open its first foreign division and engage in games not only on Destiny.
According to the Gamasutra portal, the studio explained the changes as “preparation for rapid and expected growth.”
What exactly will change:
- Bungie will move its headquarters to a new building, the construction of which will be completed in the fall of 2022. It will be almost 2.5 times larger than the current main office (208 thousand square feet instead of 84 thousand). In the enlarged headquarters, the company wants to place several teams at once, which will be able to work on different projects at the same time;
- the first foreign office of the company will also open next year, but it is not known exactly when. It will be launched in Amsterdam. The division will take over the marketing and publishing of games;
- Chief Creative Officer Johnny Ebbert and CEO Zach Russell will be looking for ideas for a fresh IP. At the same time, Bungie hopes to bring at least one new game to the market by 2025;
- Vice President Mark Noseworthy and CEO Luke Smith will be responsible for Destiny’s expansion to a “multimedia franchise”.;
- The studio invited Trace Harris and Pamela Kaufman to the board of directors. The first was previously Senior Vice President of Strategy, Finance and Business Innovation at Vivendi, the second was President of Global Consumer Products at ViacomCBS.
