Esports organization Team Liquid disbanded the Clash Royale team due to changes in the rules
This year, the Clash Royale League tournament has undergone significant changes, abandoning team competitions. This forced the esports organization Team Liquid to disband its membership in the game and switch attention to content creation.Team Liquid told about this on its official website.
The Dutch organization stated that it will continue to participate in competitions and hold tournaments for the community, but now it will devote more time to creating content.
Now Supercell is taking active steps to improve and change Clash Royale. This is due, among other things, to the statements of the company’s CEO Ilkka Paananen, who noted that the developers are dissatisfied with the project’s performance over the past year. At the beginning of the year, the Clash Royale League focused on individual competitions and completely abandoned team tournaments. That is why Team Liquid had to disband its team of five people.“It seems to us that the changes in the CRL in 2021 reduce the benefits of participating in tournaments for players and esports organizations. Despite this, we still believe in Clash Royale as a game and a community,” the organization said in an official statement.
From the former Team Liquid squad, only Russian Egor “Egor” Akhmetzyanov will continue to perform at Clash Royale tournaments. The remaining four members will either switch to content creation and streaming, or leave the organization. In 2019, Team Liquid became the Clash Royale world champions, winning the CRL World Finals tournament. However, last year the team finished the autumn season in ninth place and did not get to the final stage.
