Ubisoft and Bioware veterans have founded their own studio
Another game studio has appeared in Canada. Among its founders is Mike Laidlaw, who at one time served as creative director of the Dragon Age franchise (Bioware). He was also joined by three people from Ubisoft.
The developers called the new studio Yellow Brick Games. They opened it in Quebec, Canada and promised to strengthen the role of the region in the global entertainment arena.
This is what the Yellow Brick management team looks like:
- The company was headed by Thomas Giroux, one of the creators of The Crew;
- Jeff Skalski took over as Chief Operating Officer. On his account, he participated in the development of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate;
- Frédéric St-Laurent B. became the game director. He previously worked with Skalski on Assassin’s Creed Syndicate;
- Laidlaw once again received the position of creative director.
It should be noted that Giroux, Skalski and Saint Laurent B. previously also worked at Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard.
Yellow Brick has already started work on the first game, but has not yet shared a lot of details. It is known that there are 15 people in the project team. It will grow in the coming months.
The team does not plan to create huge big-budget games yet, wants to focus on something original
We have learned a lot while working on world-class projects, but now we want to take a different approach. The market is growing rapidly, and we have no desire to catch up with it. We can influence the development of the market ourselves.
