Activision Blizzard has replaced its communications director. He didn't work in game development before
Activision Blizzard is in a hurry to update the manual. Shortly after the change of the president, the company appointed a new director of communications. Under the previous top manager in this position, there was a PR disaster around Blizzard.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, since yesterday, the post of PR director of the publisher has been occupied by Helaine S. Klasky. She reports directly to the head of the company, Bobby Kotick.
Klasky has not updated her LinkedIn information yet. According to the profile:
- She joined Activision Blizzard from the non-profit organization SoundExchange, which is associated with the music field. Klasky was also the director of communications there;
- Klasky was also responsible for public relations at General Electric for seven years, and worked in a similar line at Yale University and the US Treasury Department.
- she has no experience in the gaming industry.
Despite the last point, the Cat is confident in Klaski. “Her 25 years of experience in strategic communications and PR is invaluable for our company,” he said.
The predecessor of Klaski, Kristin Binns, served as Director of Communications for two years. During this time, the publisher’s reputation has suffered more than once. The most scandalous cases occurred with the Blizzard division (take, for example, the story of the esports player and Hong Kong).
This is probably why Activision Blizzard has removed the second top manager in two weeks. On March 12, it became known about the transfer of President and Chief Operating Officer Coddy Johnson to the role of special adviser to the Seal. A similar position is now occupied by Christine Binns.
