Nintendo Switch Lite is already on sale. What do the media write about her?
A new game console, the Nintendo Switch Lite, went on sale today. We have read the reviews on it and highlighted the main thing.
A little bit about Nintendo Switch Lite
- This is a lightweight revision of the Switch with dimensions close to the PS Vita;
- it costs $199 — $100 less than Switch;
- the console is technically approaching the Switch, disconnected from the docking station;
- no TV compatibility.
THE VERGE
Initially, the publication outlined the pros and cons of the new console.
Advantages:
- streamlined design and durability;
- increased battery life;
- awesome D-Pad.
Cons:
- cannot be connected to a TV;
- incompatibility with some games;
- there is no stand.
Apart from some stripped—down functions — such as connecting to a TV – the Switch Lite works better than the Switch, the publication says. This is a more optimized and reliable console, and its management is much more responsive. The Verge also notes the greater clarity of the display (at the same resolution as the Switch).
The console design has also been improved. Externally, it is the same Switch, only smaller and lighter. To make the console cheaper, Nintendo removed the removable controllers. That is, Lite does not support games for which the controllers need to be disconnected. But the strength has increased: all parts of the Lite are firmly connected to each other. It is less branded and fits better in your hands.
In general, the Nintendo Switch Lite feels like both an improved original and a more economical alternative to the Switch. This is despite a number of missing features, the publication writes.
CNET
The portal explicitly states: Nintendo Switch Lite is the best portable gaming device.
Especially now that the Vita has stopped being released and the 3DS is “almost dead.”
Among the most notable advantages of the new console is the presence of a huge game catalog (more than 2500 titles), convenience, lightness and durability. Lite is recommended for gamers-travelers.
But as a home console, Lite loses to the classic Switch. There is no support for TV connection and multiplayer. For those who are not interested in these functions, Switch Lite for $199 will be a good option, writes CNET.
TECHCRUNCH
The journalist of the portal notes the features of Lite already listed above: smaller size and lightness, reliability of controllers.
But with the battery, everything is not so smooth. In terms of battery life, Lite is inferior to the recent new iteration of the original — Nintendo Switch V2.
- Switch Lite works without recharging for 3-7 hours;
- Switch V2 — 4.5-9 hours.
According to TechCrunch, Nintendo could have improved the Lite battery, but made a flaw.
But what was a good solution was the addition of a D-Pad, TechCrunch believes. This allows us to hope for replenishment of the Switch games catalog with classics released for the NES and SNES.
KOTAKU
If you are looking for a console for a portable game on the road, then the compact Switch Lite is an ideal option.
Players who want more from the gaming device, the novelty is unlikely to be to their taste. Lite is not as versatile as the original, it does not have not only TV support, but also an infrared camera (that is, a motion sensor), writes Kotaku. In addition, the text from some games is less visible on its reduced screen.
The publication also compared Lite with 3DS. The latter is limited by its own ecosystem, but it is entirely exclusive games. Lite also inherited many games for Switch, which means that some players do not make sense to change the original console to a new one.
However, there is also good news. The Lite has an accelerometer built in to vibrate the entire console, not just the controllers. Lite has a more fashionable retro design. Lite has a convenient and responsive D-Pad.
Nevertheless, the novelty is very lacking in the above-mentioned “cool things” that the original is capable of, according to Kotaku.
