VTSIOM: half of Russians are familiar with video games. The most popular game is World of Tanks
Only half of the population is familiar with video games in Russia. According to VTsIOM, 48% of Russians have never played on any devices, and 33% have abandoned this hobby.

VTsIOM interviewed 1,600 respondents over the age of 18.
Among them, one in five has tried some video game at least once. Russians from 18 to 24 years old are most interested in games. 40% of them are constantly playing.
Time and money
- 46% of the respondents who play indulge in their hobby several times a week. 30% — several times a month. 23% play every day.
- The average time per week spent by Russians in video games is 5 hours. This is if you do not break down the respodents by age. Because in groups of 18-24 years and 25-34 years, the average playing time reaches 8 hours a week.
- Russians spend an average of 959 rubles a month on video games and gaming hardware. In the two most playing age groups, the average monthly spending increases to 1,456 rubles.
- It is curious that Russians aged 45-59 and over 60 play the most every day. But on average, they spend no more than 4 hours a week and 417 rubles a month on games.
- Note that only 21% of Russians spend on video games and special equipment.
Devices
- 48% of the surveyed players prefer to play on smartphones.
- Another 41% choose a desktop. Important: Up to three devices were allowed to be selected in the survey.
- The two most playing age groups (18-24 and 25-34) most often use PCs, mobile phones and consoles to play. Tablets are chosen much less often.
Places
- Most of the players are in million—plus cities. Such Russians — 25%. Interestingly, the average weekly time of games reaches 8 hours in all millionaires, except Moscow and St. Petersburg. In the two capitals, on average, they play for 4 hours a week.
- Residents of villages and towns, for the most part, have never played (59% of them).
Preferences
- The most popular titles in Russia: World of Tanks (11%),Solitaire (7%),Pirate Treasure (4%).
- 40% of respondents are sure that the quality of Russian video games is gradually increasing.
