Microsoft did not invite the creator of Minecraft to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the game

In May, the global phenomenon of Minecraft will be 10 years old. In honor of this event, Microsoft has planned a solemn anniversary, which, however, did not invite the creator of the game — Markus Persson (Markus Persson).

Markus Persson
Microsoft has officially explained this reason.

Often, Persson expresses opinions that “do not correlate with the position of Microsoft or Mojang,” according to company representatives. Also, unflattering statements about various minorities (for example, racist and homophobic) appeared many times in his Twitter profile. And it seems Microsoft is so keen to distance itself from Persson that it even removed his name from the Minecraft loading screen last month. The company, however, did not comment on this act.

It should be noted that Perrson sold the Mojang studio along with its bestseller back in 2014. For this deal, he received $ 2.5 billion, writes Gamesindustry.biz . Since then, he has not participated in the development of Minecraft and the work of the studio.

The Microsoft and Mojang festive event will be held in Stockholm on May 17.
