Playgendary told how much Russian gamers spend in its mobile games

The publisher of Tank Stars and Tomb of the Mask analyzed its Russian audience and found out what they play and how much they pay in games in Russia.

In 2018, 10.2 million Russians downloaded Playgendary games.

Based on this large-scale sample, the company conducted a study. She was primarily interested in the distribution of the audience across platforms, the time spent on games and, of course, how much users spend on mobile entertainment on average at a time.

Platforms

The “people’s” platform in Russia is Android. 72.8% of the country’s users play from devices on this system.

The behavior of Android and iOS users in Playgendary games is not much different. Both there and there, the average duration of a gaming session is a little more than 10 minutes, and the daily number of gaming sessions on average per player fluctuates around the 1.7 mark.

The main difference between the platforms is the ratio of players playing on a smartphone to players who prefer tablets. If only 9% of Android gamers use tablets, then almost 20% of iOS gamers use tablets.

Place

The funniest fact of the study: the top 5 cities of Russia in terms of the number of mobile gamers does not coincide with the top five most densely populated cities in the country. The top cities by the number of mobile game players looks like this:

  • Moscow;
  • Saint-Petersburg;
  • Ufa;
  • Krasnodar (there are still more iOS players in Krasnodar than in Ufa);
  • Ekaterinburg.

However, according to the population , the leaders line up somewhat differently: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod. As for Ufa and Krasnodar, there are not even a dozen cities in Russia in terms of the number of inhabitants.

Time

The most popular time for the game in Russia:

  • from 11 to 13 days (18.3% of sessions are at this time);
  • from 18 to 21 pm (21.3% of sessions are at this time).

Age and activity

The most playing Playgendary games audience are men (on Android 69% of players are men, on iOS 63.2% of them). However, the most active audience differs from platform to platform:

  • the largest playing audience on Android is men aged 18 to 35 (35.1%);
  • the largest playing audience on iOS is men aged 35 to 44 years (36.3%).

Wastes

As in other regions, the payment pattern of Android and iOS players is very different in Russia. The former spend less in Playgendary games, as a rule, than fans of “apple” products.

Android Users:

  • the average cost of one purchase is $3.79;
  • median spending (depending on the game) — from $4.12 to $5.16;
  • the average number of purchases per user is 1.77;
  • the number of users who paid for disabling ads in games is one in 166th.

iOS Users:

  • the average cost of one purchase is $5.22;
  • median spending (depending on the specific game) — from $1.13 to $11.31;
  • the average number of purchases per user is 2;
  • the number of users who paid for disabling ads in games is every 31st.

It’s worth taking a closer look at the Playgendary data. They are definitely representative of the market in terms of the distribution of platforms, top cities and when users prefer to play.

However, these data should definitely not be extrapolated to the Russian mobile market as a whole when it comes to such indicators as the average number of sessions, age, audience activity and, of course, spending.

The reason lies, as it was written in the introduction, in the source. The data is based exclusively on Playgendary games, more precisely on its top 11 projects. Unfortunately, such a cross-section is not sufficient to determine the “average temperature in the hospital” in relation to some of the indicators.
