The head of Gearbox was accused of fraud
The lawsuit against Randy Pitchford (Randy Pitchford) was filed by his former friend and colleague.

Wade Callender, who was a lawyer for Gearbox Software in 2010-2018, has made several serious allegations against Pitchford.
In particular, according to Callender:
- Pitchford violated a number of contracts related to Gearbox and a third-party company;
- In 2016, he secretly received $12 million from the publisher Take-Two Interactive as a pre-payment for the future revenue of Borderlands. This money went to the personal accounts of the head of Gearbox;
- Earlier, in 2014, Pitchford forgot a USB drive in one of the restaurants in Dallas, Texas, where child pornography was stored among secret corporate documents about 2K Games, Sega, Sony and Microsoft;
- and Pitchford is also the organizer of private parties (the so-called Peacock Parties), where adult strippers dance in front of minors.
Gearbox and Pitchford himself call all these accusations absurd. They deny both the embezzlement of Take-Two money by the head of the company and the existence of “closed parties”. Separately, Pitchford commented on the story of “child pornography”. In a podcast on December 22, he stated that he really kept pornography on a flash drive, but the actress in the video was 18 years old.
The attacks made by my former friend and colleague have no basis in reality or law. He is simply trying to shake me down for money. We will win, but because lawsuits are pending I can’t comment as much as I’d like. I am shocked by his lies. Thanks for your love and support.

He just wants to “breed” me for money. The victory will be ours, however, while the court is considering the claims filed, I can’t comment on anything else. His lies shocked me. Thank you for your love and support,” Pitchford wrote.
According to Kotaku, Callender went to court on December 21, 2018 — a month after Gearbox filed a lawsuit against him. Representatives of the company claim that in 2014 Callender took out a corporate loan of $ 300 thousand for the purchase of housing. He still owes the company $136 thousand, but refuses to pay them. At the same time, he spent part of the loan amount on holidays with his family, buying weapons and membership in a gun club. Callender later destroyed the loan agreement, Gearbox noted.
According to Polygon, the company plans to file a libel complaint with the Texas State Bar Association. According to Gearbox management, Callender, as a professional lawyer, had no right to file a deliberately false claim in court.
Gearbox Software was founded in 1999. She is best known for the Borderlands shooter series. She also developed the games Aliens: Colonial Marines, Duke Nukem Forever and the Brothers in Arms series.
