Epic Games will share tools for Fortnite with developers
The tools created for Fortnite will be free for all developers, Epic Games announced. With their help, cross-platform support can be introduced into the game to unite console, mobile and desktop players.
Next year Epic Games will launch a cross-platform SDK. It integrates with the Unreal Engine and Unity engines. The company will add the following features to it:
- the ability to log in to a profile from seven different platforms;
- friend lists;
- overlays for Windows and Mac;
- voice communication;
- cloud saves;
- achievements, trophies, etc.
The tools will be compatible with all engines, platforms and stores. They will comply with GDPR. Epic Games is also working on supporting user-generated content, improving social features, and anti-cheat.
Development, testing and improvement of such services are expensive. It is cheaper to adapt a ready-made tool for a lot of games and a large number of users. The goal of Epic Games is to help game developers achieve success. We will launch a large set of cross-platform gaming tools that have been tested by 200 million players on seven platforms.
