Tencent has released a battle royale for the western market. The project is already collecting good metrics
Despite the partnership with Bluehole and a stake in Epic Games, the Chinese Internet giant Tencent also decided to play on the battlefield of royal battles. The company has released its own game in this genre on the Western market (i.e. on Steam). Users already call the game “the right PUBG”, and the game itself shows good metrics for a young product.
Ring of Elysium
The novelty is called Ring of Elysium.
It was announced a year ago as Europa. During this time, the project has changed a lot. Including, as far as can be judged from the videos, conceptually. The game has moved away from the literal quoting of PUBG to an emphasis on unique chips. For example, in the game, the characters have specializations, and the rules and mechanics are logically inscribed in the game environment (the action takes place in a snow-covered area in the mountains and you can use a snowboard to move).
After extensive testing in Indonesia and Thailand, the game became available to American and European Steam users in early September. At the same time, the game has not yet been released in China. Moreover, the Steam version of the project does not even have Chinese language support. Now Ring of Elysium is available exclusively in English.
During the week, the deep-fried game gathered an audience of more than 1 million people. She also regularly shows high online. The peak daily online project usually reaches 49 thousand. On Twitch, the game was in the Top 20 most viewed games yesterday with a one-time audience of 12 thousand.
Online Ring Of Elysium
It is still unclear how serious Tencent’s ambitions are regarding the Ring of Elysium.
But in our memory, this is the first time that a Chinese corporation enters the Western market of desktop games directly with internal development. It is possible that such a step is connected with the tightening of the policy regarding video games in the company’s homeland.
